GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — Jair Camargo hit a grand slam and a three-run double to lead the Ogden Raptors (14-7) to a 14-5 win at Grand Junction a night after scoring 22 runs.
Everyone in the Raptors lineup got a hit on Thursday and the team had 15 hits total, which means it has surpassed double-digit base hits for eight straight games.
Camargo’s grand slam came in a six-run third inning that lifted Ogden to a 7-1 lead, though Grand Junction made it 7-5 a half-inning later.
Miguel Vargas doubled in the sixth inning to score two runs, then singled in the eighth to start a five-run inning that was capped by Camargo’s bases-clearing double. Vargas went 3 for 6 with four RBIs and two stolen bases Thursday.
Vargas, the 18-year-old Cuban infielder who was signed as a free agent by the Los Angeles Dodgers in September, is 10 for 16 (.625) at the plate with seven RBIs in just four games since getting called up on July 2 from the Arizona League.
Outfielder Niko Hulsizer went 2 for 2 with a double and three walks; Ronny Brito hit two doubles and Drew Avans went 2 for 4 with an RBI.
Pitcher Jose Chacin allowed five runs (two earned) across six innings in the win. Austin Drury and Yeison Cespedes held the Rockies scoreless the final three innings.
Ogden didn’t make any player transactions for the second day in a row.
